NFL Sunday Ticket: Could You Watch With a $119 Student Plan?

TV Answer Man, the NFL Sunday Ticket costs too much. So my question is could you get a student to sign up for the cheaper price and use their credentials to watch the games? – Barry, Madison, Wisconsin,

Barry, I feel your pain. The 2025 NFL Sunday Ticket now costs $378 – if you bundle it with a YouTube TV subscription. The package of out-of-market Sunday afternoon games is $100 more if you purchase it separately at YouTube Primetime Channels.

However, the student plan for the Sunday Ticket is only $119. At that price, I can see why some fans might wonder if they could get a student, perhaps a son or daughter, to sign up and then let old Pop watch the games at the cheaper price.

What Does YouTube Say?
At the Sunday Ticket student discount page, YouTube addresses this possibility.

”The NFL Sunday Ticket plan is intended for individual students. For unlimited streams at home or the option to share it with your family, you will need a standard NFL Sunday Ticket membership,” the streamer states.

But despite the warning, there would seem to be nothing to stop someone from using a student’s credentials (user name and password) to access the Ticket site/app and watch the games every Sunday. YouTube doesn’t have a camera in your home – as far as we know – so it wouldn’t know if it’s the student or the adult fan viewing.

Before you take this course, however, note that you have to verify that a student will be subscribing, but surely you know someone who’s a student, right? (Click here to learn more on how to subscribe as a student.)

Also, student plans for the Sunday Ticket can only be purchased as a YouTube Primetime Channel, but once purchased, you can watch on either YouTube or YouTube TV. With a student plan, Sunday Ticket access is also limited to one device at a time and family sharing is not included. So if you get someone to sign up, he or she can not watch separately while you are watching.

Barry, hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
