Amazon’s Prime Video plans to add 74 new TV shows and movies in May 2025. Here are the three most interesting, in my humble opinion.
Another Simple Favor (2025) – Amazon Original Movie
Release Date: May 1
Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are back in this sequel to their 2018 film, A Simple Favor, a stylish comedy/mystery featuring Kendrick as a blogger searching for a missing Lively. In part two, Lively’s character, Emily, a vain socialite, plans to marry a rich Italian businessman on the island of Capri but a murder transpires before the vows can be exchanged. Since the sequel went to straight to streaming, some have wondered if the film should have been killed, too. But the early reviews are positive with Rotten Tomatoes giving it a score of 82. So, stream in, everyone.
Earnhardt – Amazon Original Documentary
Release Date: May 22, 29
Amazon will unveil a four-part documentary on NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, Sr. who dominated the circuit for two decades until he died in a three-car crash during the Daytona 500 in 2001. The doc will examine Earnhardt’s aggressive style of driving – and living – as well as allegations that a faulty seat belt contributed to his demise.
The Better Sister – Amazon Original Series
Release Date: May 29
Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks star as dysfunctional sisters whose lives are torn asunder when a family member is murdered. The show is promising more twists than a Hungarian gymnast and Biel showed her acting chops in a similar role (USA Network’s The Sinner) so it looks like a fun ride.
