Apple TV+ announced today that Friday Night Baseball, a weekly Friday doubleheader of regular season MLB games, will return to the live streaming service for the 2025 season.
The games, which feature no local blackouts, will begin on March 28 when the Baltimore Orioles host the Toronto Blue Jays at 6:30 p.m. ET. In the second game of the opening doubleheader, the New York Mets with Juan Soto will play the Houston Astros at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The games are free with an Apple TV+ subscription which costs $9.99 a month. (There is a free sebven-day trial.) However, the Friday night contests are exclusive to Apple TV+, meaning they are not available on other channels. (DIRECTV’s business unit will distribute the games to bars, restaurants and other commercial venues.)
What to Expect From Apple TV’s Broadcasts
Apple TV+’s Friday Night Baseball broadcasts are produced by MLB Network in partnership with Apple’s live sports production team. The streaming service says each game will feature “state-of-the-art cameras” and immersive sound in 5.1 with Spatial Audio enabled.
The Apple TV+ broadcasting crew will include Wayne Randazzo (play-by-play), Dontrelle Willis (analyst), Heidi Watney (sideline reporter), Alex Faust (play-by-play), Ryan Spilborghs (analyst), and Tricia Whitaker (sideline reporter). Lauren Gardner, Russell Dorsey, and Xavier Scruggs return to host live pre- and postgame coverage both in-studio and on the field. Additionally, Siera Santos will host select pregame shows and Rich Waltz will call select games.
