Max, which has offered live sporting events from TNT, TBS and truTV at no extra cost in all plans since October 2023, will change that policy on March 30, 2025 when the sportscasts are removed from the $9.99 a month ads-included plan.

However, live sports will remain in the standard ($16.99 a month with no ads) and premium ($20.99 a month with 4K and no ads) plans, the streamer announced today.

What’s Included In Max’s Bleacher Report Sports?
The sports lineup, called Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports, has become a favorite with cord cutters who can watch NBA, NHL and MLB action from the three Turner Sports networks without subscribing to a pay TV bundle. The B/R broadcasts also offer 1080p HD Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio on most games, something not available on TNT, TBS and truTV when viewed on cable, satellite and live streaming services such as YouTube TV and DIRECTV Stream.

Bleacher Report Sports offers NHL contests, NBA games, MLB regular season games, Men’s March Madness games and U.S. soccer among more than 300 live games each year. The removal of B/R Sports from the $9.99 a month plan will come on the second day of the Elite Eight of the March Madness tournament which will be broadcast by CBS and the three Turner networks.

The Max sports lineup includes all live games airing on a Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) network. The package also features studio shows such as Inside the NBA, live video content from Bleacher Report, select live international sports events such as 24 Hours of Le Mans, and VOD titles.

Why the Change?
When Max added live sports in October 2023, it said that it would eventually charge for the added service, saying it was necessary to meet expenses. However, instead of charging an extra fee, it’s just requiring subscribers to get a more expensive plan.

What’s Next For Max Subscribers?
The Max sports package will continue to include all live games from WBD networks, plus on-demand titles and exclusive programming. For cost-conscious consumers, this change may mean upgrading plans or missing out on key games.

Update: Max says CNN live shows will also be removed from the $9.99 plan.
