Netflix, Peacock, Hulu, Amazon and Max this weekend (November 14-17, 2024) plan to add 46 new TV shows and movies to their streaming lineups. Here’s the 5 most interesting, in my humble opinion.

Twisters (2024) – Peacock Exclusive

Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones star as rival storm chasers in this excellent remake of the 1996 film, Twister, with Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt in lead. Powell again shows he’s ready to assume Tom Cruise’s role as Hollywood’s leading ‘man with a mission’ and Edgar-Jones could become the Julia Roberts of her time. The film also benefits from an expected bump up in CGI effects and strong supporting performances from Anthony Ramos as a storm chaser caught between profits and altruism and Maura Tierney as Edgar-Jones’ trusting mom. Fun film and it will be available on Peacock in 4K and Dolby Atmos. Debuts on Peacock on Friday, November 15.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson – Netflix Exclusive
Boxing legend and AARP-eligible Mike Tyson (he’s 58) is scheduled to fight influencer turned pugilist Jake Paul in an eight-round (two minutes each) fight streamed live and exclusive on Netflix on November 15, 2024. The bout was scheduled to be live streamed by Netflix in July but Iron Mike fell ill on an airplane due to an ulcer flare up so it was postponed. All indicators are that it will be held as now scheduled but things happen in boxing, particularly when one of the participants is 58. If the fight does happen, Tyson is a 2-1 underdog. Debuts on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, November 15.

Dune: Prophecy, Season 1 (HBO/Max Original)
Warner Bros. takes a stab at extending the Dune sci-fi franchise with this prequel set roughly 10,000 years before the original movie’s timeline. Emily Watson and Olivia Williams star as sisters, Valya and Tula, who lead a band of women that will battle evil forces threatening humanity’s very existence. First episode debuts Sunday, November 17.

Cobra Kai: Season 6 Part 2 — Netflix Series
And speaking of prolonging one’s shelf life, this will be the second in three installments of the final season of the Karate Kid reboot. (Part three of season six is scheduled for 2025.). Ralph Macchio and William Zabka are back in their original roles as karate rivals, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, turned grown men who continue to live out their childhood ambitions through the younger set. Debuts Friday, November 15.

FX’s Say Nothing (Exclusive to Hulu)
The nine-episode dramatic series (all nine will be available on November 14) will follow four Irish families who take extreme measures during the bloody warfare between the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland from the 1970s to the 1990s. Based on a non-fiction book about the conflict, the show undoubtedly will stir controversy as it attempts to explain the how and whys behind the gruesome division of countries — and whether the Irish people were justified in resorting to criminal and violent behavior. Debuts on Thursday, November 14.
