Fox will offer three college football games in upscaled 4K this weekend, the first full week schedule of the 2024 season. (The 4K games will be simulcast in HD on Fox network affiliates.)
The first 4K game will be tonight’s (August 29) Minnesota vs. North Carolina matchup at 8 p.m. ET. Then, on Saturday at noon ET (August 31), the network will broadcast the Penn State-West Virginia game in the format. And, finally, at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nebraska will host UTEP in 4K from Fox.
How Can You Watch Fox’s Games In 4K?
Fox’s 4K games can be seen in the format on the Fox Sports app by logging in with your TV Everywhere user name and password from your pay TV provider. (Note that the Fox Now app is no longer available.)
The pay TV services that are expected to carry the Fox games in 4K on special 4K channels are DIRECTV, Dish, Sling TV, Comcast, Verizon, Optimum, DIRECTV Stream, YouTube TV, and FuboTV. (In FuboTV markets where the Fox affiliate is provided with your programming package.) Check your on-screen guide for more details.

What Is Upscaled 4K On Fox?
Fox’s 4K college basketball and football broadcasts are upscaled from 1080p HDR (High Dynamic Range). Upscaling is the process when one video format is converted to another. Fox takes the 1080p HDR signal and converts it to a 4K format. Upscaling 4K is not considered as good as native 4K, but the inclusion of HDR can offer heightened colors and vividness.
ESPN’s 4K ‘Game of the Week’ for college football will also continue in 2024. The first game in upscaled 4K will be the Clemson-Georgia contest starting at noon on Saturday, August 31. ABC and ESPN+ will simulcast the game in high-def. Georgia, which is the top ranked team in the nation, is an 82.3 percent favorite to win, according to ESPN’s Matchup Predictor.
