Hulu to Add 76 New Titles This Week – Here’s the 3 Most Interesting

Hulu this week (June 30-July 6, 2024) plans to add 76 new TV shows and movies to its subscription Video on Demand service. Here’s the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:
FX on Hulu’s Clipped
I have now watched the first five episodes of FX On Hulu’s Clipped, the tawdry tale of the downfall of Donald Sterling (played here by Married With Children’s Ed O’Neill) and the Los Angeles Clippers. (The limited series ends Tuesday, July 2, with episode six.) Clipped is not as good as HBO’s Winning Time, largely because the personalities and storylines pale in comparison. (It’s hard to compete with Magic, Kareem and owner Jerry Buss in the HBO series on the Lakers of the late 1970s and early 1980s.) But it’s still very entertaining and worth a watch, particularly for hoop fans. Laurence Fishburne stands out as the frustrated Clippers coach, Doc Rivers, but Ed O’Neill is also good as Sterling as is Jackie Weaver as his neglected spouse. Episode six, the series finale, will tidy up some loose ends with the NBA ousting Sterling as owner following some racist remarks to his girlfriend/assistant, including admonishing her for taking a photo next to Magic Johnson. Episode six debuts Tuesday, July 2.
7 Shark Shows For Shark Week (Month)
Discovery’s annual shark week programming begins Sunday, July 7, but Hulu is getting a head start with seven new titles devoted to the fascinating but ferocious creature of the sea. The list includes a premiere of Sharks Gone Viral. (Apparently the deep-water denizens have a social media team.) Debuts Monday, July 1.
Get Out (2017)
Daniel Kaluuya stars as a young black man who learns some scary secrets about his white girlfriend (Allison Williams) and her family when he visits their home. The Jordan Peele-directed horror/satire became an instant classic for its insightful and suspenseful take on racial paranoia (from both sides here) and miscommunication. Be prepared to laugh, think and occasionally jump out of your seat.
