Max to Add 8 New Shows & Movies This Week – Here’s the 3 Most Interesting

Max, the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, this week (June 10-16, 2024) plans to add 8 new TV shows and movies to its lineup. Here’s the three most interesting, in my humble opinion. (Note that Max is offering a free one-week trial for a limited time. Click here to learn more.)

House of the Dragon, Season Two (HBO Original)
The Game of Thrones prequel returns to Max for season two, nearly two years after its much-anticipated season one debut. If you’re not familiar with the GOT lore, House of the Dragon comes from the fertile mind of its author, George R.R. Martin, and covers the mythical events 200 years before Game of Thrones when kings fall, sons succeed, and bloody wars ensue. Debuts Sunday, June 16.

Hannah Einbinder: Everything Must Go (HBO Original)
If you’re a fan of the Max original comedy, Hacks, this Hannah Einbinder stand-up special is must viewing. The daughter of SNL charter member Laraine Newman is a lot more than a clever sidekick to Jean Smart, dishing out sniper-like zingers on everything from bi dating to drug ingestion on the Hollywood scene. Debuts Thursday, June 13.

American Monster, Season 12
The Discovery ID true-crime series returns for another season of average people committing horrific murders. The show could turn exploitative in lesser hands, but Discovery ID does a good job of keeping the victims foremost in the viewer’s mind. Still, not everyone’s cup of tea here but if you like true crime, you should like this show. Debuts Sunday, June 16.
