Netflix to Add 20 New Titles This Week – Here’s the 3 Most Interesting

Netflix this week (June 2-8, 2024) plans to add 20 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here’s the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:

Hit Man (2023)
Glen Powell, Hollywood’s Flavor of the Month, stars in this Richard Linklater-directed Netflix original film about a New Orleans police employee who goes undercover as a hit man. The ploy to trap would-be killers backfires when he falls for a woman (Adria Arjona) who decides to murder her husband. In the hands of a lesser talent, Hit Man could have fired blanks, but Linklater’s film amassed a near unanimous critical reaction when it was released in select theaters last year. Hit Man appears to be another big hit for Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone But You) and Linklater, the quirky auteur behind such films as Boyhood, Dazed and Confused and Before Sunset. Debuts Friday, June 7.

30 For 30: Lance
In this ESPN documentary, Lance Armstrong, the disgraced bicycling legend, tells his side of the doping scandal that cost him his titles and reputation. The result is a cringe-filled portrait of a great athlete who’s still backpedaling even when acknowledging the facts. Debuts June 3.

How I Met Your Mother: Seasons 1-9
For comfort TV fans, Netflix is adding all nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother, the CBS comedy about a future Dad (Josh Radnor) who explains to his kids how he met their Mom. The pleasing cast also includes Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and the late Bob Saget as narrator. How I Met Your Mother generated 28 Emmy nominations over the years and it’s sure to generate millions of views here on the world’s largest streaming service. Debuts June 3.
