TV Answer Man, I like the discount price for the Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV but I don’t want to sign up for YouTube TV for the rest of the year through the season. Any suggestions on how to get around that? — Frankie, Orlando.

Frankie, YouTube TV is now offering new customers $170 off the price of the 2024 NFL Sunday Ticket if they bundle the package of out-of-market Sunday afternoon games with a YouTube TV subscription. In addition, YouTube TV’s monthly rate for new customers is now $57.99 for the first three months, which would be an additional savings of $45. The deal, which would reduce the Ticket’s price to $179, is good until May 16, 2024.

However, it is true that you must maintain a YouTube TV subscription to watch the Sunday Ticket starting in September. Some fans might feel like that makes the deal too expensive because you would have to pay for YouTube TV from now through January when the 2024 NFL season ends.

But there is a way to get around this.

If you get YouTube TV now, and include the Sunday Ticket for $179, you can immediately pause your YouTube TV subscription for up to six months. That means you could take advantage of the lower Ticket price but not have to pay for YouTube TV until September when the season begins except for the first month’s payment. (Like most streaming services, YouTube TV will charge you for your first month even if you cancel or pause immediately after signing up.)

So you would pay the $57.99 for the first month of YouTube TV but then not have to start paying $72.99 a month for the streaming plan until September. This would save you at least three months (June, July and August) of YouTube TV payments.

This Google page will explain how to pause your membership.

Frankie, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
