TV Answer Man, do you know if any baseball games will be in 4K this season? And if so, who will carry them on their service? — Tim, Madison, Wisconsin.

Tim, the 2024 Major League Baseball regular season will begin Thursday (March 28) with games on various national and regional networks including ESPN, Fox, MLB Network, Apple TV+, Bally Sports and others. However, as of now, the national networks have no plans to offer regular season games in 2024 in 4K.

ESPN has never done a baseball game in 4K. Fox has only done a few while Apple TV+ does its Friday night games in 1080p HD. MLB Network did some games in 4K for DIRECTV and YouTube TV a few years ago but not last year.

The only way you can watch regular season baseball in 4K this year might be some regional broadcasts from Spectrum SportsNet LA (Dodgers) and NBC Sports Chicago (White Sox) on DIRECTV’s satellite service, and NESN 360’s native 4K coverage of Boston Red Sox home games. (DIRECTV’s satellite service will also have the NESN games in 4K.) Fox might also show the 2024 MLB All-Star game and some playoff games in 4K

Tim, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
