Netflix to Add 13 New Releases This Week: The 3 to Watch

Netflix this week (January 4-10, 2026) plans to add 13 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

His & Hers
When to Watch: Thursday, January 8, 2026
What Kind of Show: Mystery/Thriller
Who’s In It: Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal
Based on the Alice Feeney novel, Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal (pictured above) play a reporter and detective respectively who investigate a small town murder. The plot thickens when the two begin to suspect each other, which gets even messier when you discover they were once married to each other. “There are two sides to every story: his and hers, which means someone is always lying,” Netflix says coyly in its program description. If you’re a true crime fan, or just love a good mystery, this looks irresistible; all six episodes debut on January 8.

When to Watch: Wednesday, January 7
What Kind of Show: Sci-fi Thriller
Who’s In It: James Franco, Chris Cooper
Based on the Stephen King novel, 11.22.63 stars James Franco as a high school teacher who magically is offered an opportunity to go back in time to stop the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Once there, however, he discovers that history can be a stubborn thing – and he could be trapped in a time warp. The eight-episode series, which first ran on Hulu, is a lesson from the book of the proverbs: Be careful what you wish for. If you’re old enough to remember the halcyon days of the 1960s – and the old Twilight Zone episodes – this one is for you.

When it Watch: Friday, January 9
What Kind of Show: Romantic Comedy
Who’s In It: Emily Bader, Tom Blyth
Based on the 2021 novel by Emily Henry, the Netflix original film stars Emily Bader and Tom Blyth as two estranged best friends who decide to renew their relationship for a week-long vacation. However, the holiday soon turns into pratfall-filled trip down memory lane for both characters who are forced to confront their true feelings for each other.
