Hulu Adds 50 New Movies Today: The 3 to Watch
By Phillip Swann
The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!
Hulu today (March 1, 2026) has added 50 new movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch (or rewatch), in my humble opinion:
The Insider (1999)
What Kind of Movie: Drama
Who’s In It: Al Pacino, Russell Crowe
Russell Crowe plays Big Tobacco whistleblower Jeffrey Wigand in director Michael Mann’s retelling of 60 Minutes and CBS News’ struggle to air an expose on the dangers of smoking. Al Pacino plays CBS producer Lowell Bergman who led the fight to put Wigand on the air only to be stifled by network executives, attorneys and even legendary show anchor, Mike Wallace, played by Christopher Plummer. The Mann movie is gripping and taut (even at 158 minutes) and easily the best portrayal of corporate malfeasance and journalistic malpractice ever dared put on screen. Crowe, an Australian, magically channels Wigand’s persona (grew up in New York; lived in Kentucky); you almost forget you’re watching an actor in the role, he’s so good. Pacino is also effective as the frustrated producer although he’s more Al than Lowell. But he’s a movie star; so we’re okay with that.
Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
What Kind of Movie: Comedy/Drama
Who’s In It: Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro
Bradley Cooper (pictured above with Jennifer Lawrence) shines in this David O. Russell comedy/drama film as a bipolar teacher named Pat who loses his grip on reality after seeing his wife having sex with a fellow teacher. Once out of a mental institution, Pat attempts to rebuild his life but is soon thrown a curve by a curvaceous young widow (Jennifer Lawrence) whose hold on reality is equally suspect. Cooper and Lawrence are wonderful together in this dysfunctional romcom and Robert De Niro is a hoot as Pat’s mentally uncertain father who lives and dies with the hometown Philadelphia Eagles. Silver Linings Playbook is a great movie that will make you smile, laugh and cry.
Speed (1994)
What Kind of Movie: Action/Drama
Who’s In It: Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, Dennis Hopper
The sensational 1994 drama stars Keanu Reeves as a LA cop who must save a busload of people from a bomb planted by a deliciously evil Dennis Hopper. Sandra Bullock plays a passenger who hesitantly takes the wheel (and Keanu’s heart) when the bus driver is shot. Pop quiz, hotshot. Are you going to watch it?
