It’s been known for months that Peacock, the NBC-owned streaming service, would get an exclusive NFL game in prime time tonight (December 27). Well, now we know who will play: The Baltimore Ravens tonight will invade the (likely) frozen tundra of Lambeau Field to play the Green Bay Packers.

The game has playoff implications with the Packers already clinching a playoff spot but still angling for first in the NFC North with a 9-5-1 record (a game and a half behind the Bears with two left) and the Ravens on the bubble with a 7-8 record. Consequently, many fans will soon begin scrambling for a way to watch the game without subscribing to Peacock; the streamer’s least expensive live sports plan is $10.99 a month.

Unfortunately, finding the game without Peacock won’t be easy.

For starters, for those who have the new NBC Sports Network on Comcast’s Xfinity TV or YouTube TV, the channel will NOT show the Peacock game. Yes, NBCSN airs most of Peacock’s live sports lineup, but the NFL game won’t be included. The network wants people to subscribe to Peacock.

Second, the game will be available on local network affiliates in the Baltimore and Green Bay markets. If you live there, you’re all set.

Third, EverPass, the company that distributes live entertainment to commercial venues, will offer the game to bars and restaurants that subscribe to its service. (See this web page for more details on that.) Unfortunately, unlike DIRECTV’s TV bar business, EverPass does not publish a list of its commercial partners so you’ll have to do some scouting in your neighborhood to find a bar that has the game. (DIRECTV will not have the rights to provide the game to its commercial subscribers.)

Fourth, NFL Plus, the league’s streaming service, will also not carry the game.

Fifth, Amazon’s Prime Video, which has offered seven-day free trials to Peacock, discontinued the practice last Sunday, a day before you could have used to watch the game for free.

Update: A reader notes that you could also sign up for a free trial of Walmart Plus which includes either Peacock or Paramount Plus. Click here for more details.

Happy viewing and stay safe!
