YouTube TV to Launch 10 Cheaper Genre Plans Including Sports

YouTube TV announced this week that it plans to launch more than 10 less expensive genre plans in early 2026 including one package that will be dedicated to national sports channels.

The initiative will follow similar genre plans from DIRECTV and Fubo. The former has five genre plans including ones for sports, news, entertainment, Spanish programming, and kids while Fubo has one, for sports. The streamers are hoping that the plans, which are less expensive than the traditional programming bundle, will attract cost-conscious consumers who have cut the cord.

YouTube TV has yet to reveal pricing for the genre plans. Fubo’s Sports plan costs $55.99 a month while DIRECTV’s plans are $69.99 a month and below.

“One package that we know our customers will be excited for is the YouTube TV Sports Plan,” YouTube TV says in a blog post at its web site. “The Sports Plan will offer fans access to all the major broadcasters as well as sports networks like FS1, NBC Sports Network, all of the ESPN networks, as well as ESPN Unlimited. Subscribers can include add-ons like NFL Sunday Ticket and RedZone, and keep all fan-favorite features, including unlimited DVR, multiview, key plays, and fantasy view.”

YouTube TV says it will continue to offer its more traditional bundle of 100 channels which now costs $82.99 a month.

“TV should be easy, giving viewers greater control over what they want to watch,” the streamer says. “Our goal is to let you tailor your subscription with more options. Whether you stick with our main YouTube TV plan with 100+ channels, focus on sports, combine sports and news, or select a plan centered on family and entertainment content, subscribers will be able to easily choose the plan that works best for them.”
