Since YouTube TV subscribers lost the entire lineup of Disney channels (including ESPN and ABC) on Halloween due to a carriage fight, there’s been little reason for optimism. However, there are two developments late today that should give the streamer’s customers something to smile about.

First, Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reports that the two companies are engaged in negotiations today. This runs counter to some online comments from subscribers who have suggested the companies are so far apart that they are not even talking.

With today’s college football games already underway, an evening settlement would still mean YouTube TV sports fans missed another weekend of critical college contests. But at least it would pave the way for Monday Night Football.

Two, both Marchand and Todd Spangler of Variety are reporting that YouTube TV will begin offering $20 credits on Sunday if the blackout is still in place. The streamer has said it would do this if the blackout lasted an “extended period of time.” Well, now we know what an extended period means.

The TV Answer Man will continue to monitor this situation and report back here if anything significant changes.
