YouTube TV Signs Long Term Deal With NBC
YouTube TV and NBC this afternoon announced they have reached a long-term agreement to keep NBC’s channels in the live streamer’s lineup.
“Our new agreement with Google is a clear win for both our business and our viewers – underscoring the enduring value of our must-see shows, films, sports, and live events while expanding our reach to even more audiences,” Matt Schnaars, President of Platform Distribution & Partnerships at NBCUniversal, said in a statement.
“We’ve secured long-term access to our full portfolio of broadcast and cable networks on YouTube TV, and we’re advancing our Peacock strategy with an upcoming launch on YouTube Primetime Channels and ongoing presence on Google TV. This agreement positions us for continued growth and reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional entertainment to fans across platforms,” he added.
As part of the new deal, YouTube TV will carry NBC’s new sports network, NBCSN, and the NBC-owned Peacock will be made available as a subscription service on YouTube Primetime Channels.
Today’s statement does not say if the four NBC regional sports networks will stay on YouTube TV. However, it does say Bravo, NBC, Telemundo, Golf Channel, CNBC, E!, Oxygen, True Crime, MSNBC, USA Network, Syfy, and Universo will stay on.
“This deal builds on our long-standing partnership with NBCU while addressing the evolving media landscape and recognizing the importance of making content available where and how viewers want to watch it,” Justin Connolly, vice and global head of media & sports at YouTube, said in the statement. “We are pleased to have reached this agreement and look forward to continuing our partnership to serve billions of viewers around the world.”
Update: The RSNs are still on YouTube TV. So, for now, it appears that the channels are part of the agreement. If anything changes, we will update this article.

That is a big deal. One of the biggest pains with NBC Universal is with Premier League. They place games on USA Network and NBC broadcast, but then you have to switch apps to watch the remaining games airing at the same time. If this means all of the Peacock Premier League matches will be available together, all within YouTubeTV, that is a massive win for consumers who only want to use one app for all their various subscriptions. Good work by Google on this one.
Now, let’s hope ESPN does the same and allows YouTube to integrate ESPN Unlimited and ESPN Select live streams directly into the YouTubeTV app.
