Will Fubo Still Offer the NBA League Pass?

TV Answer Man, will Fubo still have the NBA League Pass? I read your article about Amazon getting an exclusive so YouTube TV says it won’t have it any more. – Steve, Fairfax, Virginia.

Steve, you’re right. The TV Answer Man reported yesterday that YouTube TV has notified its subscribers that it will no longer carry the NBA League Pass after September 30, 2025 because it says Amazon has obtained an exclusive as the official ‘channel store’ of the package of out-of-market games.

However, DIRECTV told us yesterday that it will provide the NBA League Pass to both satellite and streaming customers for the 2025/26 season. A DIRECTV spokesman said he did not know why YouTube TV says Amazon has an exclusive but his company will still have the rights.

So, we asked Fubo this morning if it will also be able to continue offering the League Pass.

A Fubo spokeswoman said: “Fubo will not (italics ours) have carriage of NBA League Pass once it becomes exclusive to Amazon at the start of the upcoming season.”

So there you go. Fubo and YouTube TV have both lost the NBA League Pass for the 2025/26 season due to an ‘exclusive’ deal but DIRECTV has somehow retained its rights.

“DIRECTV will continue in 2025-2026 to offer NBA LP via satellite and streaming,” a DIRECTV spokesman told The TV Answer Man via e-mail. “It might be a vMVPD (industry term for live streaming services) exclusive or something that doesn’t withhold the coverage from (DIRECTV). Not sure. But we definitely have it.”

No one said the TV industry makes sense.

It might make sense if DIRECTV said its streaming customers would not be eligible for the League Pass; that would suggest Amazon has a streaming exclusive. But DIRECTV maintains that satellite and streaming subs can still get it for the 2025/26 season.

Update: Comcast’s Xfinity TV still has the 2025/26 League Pass plan on its site as an option. Spectrum TV and Dish have not posted 2025/26 plans yet.

Update #2: An industry source tells us that Amazon does have an exclusive on the digital/streaming rights to the NBA League Pass. However, DIRECTV apparently can offer the plan to both satellite and streaming because its agreement comes under the ‘non-digital’ category because of its satellite audience.

Final notes: The NBA League Pass is still available at the NBA website if you prefer that over Amazon or DIRECTV.

Also, Amazon apparently got the League Pass deal with its new 11-year $1.8 billion agreement with the NBA which includes the annual rights to dozens of regular season games starting next month when the 2025/26 season begins.
