TV Answer Man, do you know if ESPN’s new app has Multiview screen so you can watch a bunch of sports at the same time? – Jamal, Sacramento.
Jamal, ESPN’s new Unlimited app, which launched last Thursday (August 21, 2005), costs $29.99 a month and includes live feeds of all ESPN channels plus a large library of on-demand programming. The service is designed to attract sports-loving cord cutters who have abandoned the traditional cable/satellite bundle to focus on less expensive streaming services.
But does ESPN Unlimited offer Multiview, you ask?
Answer: Yes. You can watch up to four different events/games on one screen at the same time. However, the Multiview selections are pre-curated, meaning ESPN chooses what’s in each Multiview selection. The subscriber can not choose, in contrast to YouTube TV’s Multiview which allows the viewer to select which games he or she sees.
As I write this, ESPN is offering 11 different Multiviews for the U.S. Open tennis tournament. That’s a lot of tennis even for the most ardent fan of the sport. (As you can see in the video below, the audio is highlighted in one screen, but you can switch the audio to another screen by toggling.)
Jamal, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
