Hulu to Add 17 New Releases This Week – Here Are the 3 to Watch

Hulu, the streaming service, this week (May 19-25, 2025) plans to add 17 new releases. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion.

The Last Showgirl (2024)
Release Date: Friday, May 23
Pamela Anderson stars as an aging Vegas revue dancer whose future is uncertain when the casino closes her show after three decades. The Last Showgirl is a poignant portrait of the difficulties many entertainers face in their later years when casting directors stop calling and debt collectors start. Anderson, 57 and best known as the vivacious beach babe in the 1990s hit, Baywatch, is wonderful here in a role she says she understands all too well.

Nine Perfect Strangers, Season 2 – Hulu Original Series
Release Date: Wednesday, May 21
Nicole Kidman stars as the Russian founder of a wellness retreat who slips her guests a special drug after a welcome meal which transforms them into truth-spewing social maniacs. Think The White Lotus with a bigger star running the resort. Developed by TV veteran David E. Kelley, Nine Perfect Strangers was a mixed bag in season one with a slow-paced narrative but strong performances from Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon and Regina Hall. Like The White Lotus, the supporting cast changes from season to season. Season two’s crew will feature Christine Baranski, Murray Bartlett (who starred in season one of the aforementioned White Lotus), Annie Murphy and Lena Olin, among others. Season one is now available on Hulu.

American Underdog (2021)
Release Date: Tuesday, May 20
Zachary Levi (Chuck) stars as former St, Louis Rams QB Kurt Warner in this surprisingly effective biofilm about his equally surprising leap from an obscure Arena Football player to the leader of a Super Bowl champion. American Underdog is a bit corny but in all the good ways and both Levi as Warner and Anna Paquin as his wife are perfect in lead.
