Max to Add 58 New Movies In March 2025 – Here Are the 5 You Can’t Miss

Max this month (March 2025) plans to add 58 new movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the five you don’t want to miss, in my humble opinion:

Heretic (2024)
The 2024 horror film stars Hugh Grant as a reclusive psychopath (the worst kind) who traps two young Mormon missionaries in his house and proceeds to scare the bejesus out of them, so to speak. Plenty of jump scares and a delicious turn by Grant. Heretic debuts March 7.

Sissy Spacek in Carrie.

Carrie (1976)
Speaking of horror, this 1976 classic stars Sissy Spacek as the high school girl who can move objects (among other things) via mind control, particularly when taunted and teased by her fellow students. Directed by Brian DePalma, Carrie is a rich and pulpy satire of high school life and the difficulties some have in fitting in. Look for the young John Travolta in an amusing supporting role as one of the evil students who unwisely make Carrie their target.

Ghostbusters (1984)
Hollywood has mined this 1984 classic comedy for numerous sequels, spin-offs and rip-offs over the years but this is far and away the best thanks largely to Bill Murray’s career making role as a wisecracking hunter of ghouls and goblins. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis are good in support but it’s the Bill Murray Show, folks.

Goodfellas (1990)
Martin Scorsese’s brilliant 1990 mob drama starring Ray Liotta (RIP), Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro. Ten years earlier, Scorsese made Raging Bull and it seemed improbable then that he could top such a work of art. But he did. Goodfellas has become one of those movies that you can watch over and over and never be bored.

The Parenting (2025)
The streamer will debut a Max/HBO original, The Parenting, a comedy horror film about a young couple whose weekend rental house is haunted – by ghosts and their overbearing parents. The supporting cast is impressive and alone makes this worth checking out: Brian Cox, Edie Falco, Parker Posey, Lisa Kudrow and Dean Norris. Debuts March 14.
