Netflix, Hulu, Max, Amazon & Paramount Plus to Add 19 New Titles This Weekend – Here Are the 3 Most Interesting

Netflix, Max, Hulu, Paramount Plus, Peacock and Amazon’s Prime Video this weekend (January 23-26, 2025) plan to add 19 new titles to their streaming lineups. Here are the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:

Star Trek: Section 31 (Movie Premiere) – Paramount Plus
Michelle Yeoh is back as Emperor Philippa Georgiou in this exclusive Paramount Plus movie premiere. The Emp is forced to join a secret division of Starfleet to protect the United Federation of Planets. However, enroute she discovers the sins of her past have come to collect! Yeoh! Folks, I have to confess that I was never a Star Trek fan, but Section 31 is likely to be one of the month’s most popular releases on streaming, or anywhere else. Debuts on Paramount Plus on Friday, January 24.

The Night Agent, season two – Netflix Original
Gabriel Basso (Juror #2) stars as Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent whose quiet nighttime White House post suddenly gets very loud when he learns there’s a traitor at the t0p of government. I won’t spoil season one, but Sutherland’s mission gets even wilder in season two when a dangerous war criminal targets him for disrupting his evil plans. Season two debuts on Netflix on Thursday, January 23. Season one now available on Netflix.

Saturday Night (2024) – Netflix 
Jason Reitman (Juno, Up In the Air) directs this retelling of the insane backstage hijinks that transpired before and during the first episode of NBC’s Saturday Night Live in 1975. If you’re old enough to remember SNL’s early days, you’ll love this sweet skip down memory lane. The main cast is exceptionally good (and eerily similar to their real-life counterparts) with fun supporting performances from Nicholas Braun as Andy Kaufman, Cooper Hoffman as Dick Ebersol, J.K. Simmons as Milton Berle and Matthew Rhys as debut show host, George Carlin. Debuts on Netflix on Saturday, January 25.
