Peacock to Add 12 New Titles This Week – Here Are the 3 Most Interesting

Peacock, the streaming service operated by NBCUniversal, this week (January 12-18, 2025) plans to add 12 new TV shows and movies to its lineup. Here are the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:

SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night (Peacock Original)
In honor of Saturday Night Live’s 5oth anniversary this year (1975-2025), Peacock will roll out this four-part docuseries on the variety show with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with past and current cast members and writers. Since NBC owns SNL, and Peacock, don’t expect the doc to dish the dirt, but the old clips of show highlights and cast auditions makes it must-see TV, to coin a phrase. All four episodes debut on Thursday, January 16.

Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy (Peacock Original)
The title may sound a bit flippant considering this ‘bad boy’ is accused of unspeakable sexual crimes. (“Bad guy” might have been more appropriate). But the Peacock doc says it will explain how Sean Combs, aka Diddy, transformed from a choirboy in an all-boys Catholic school into a rap mogul and then again into a ruthless criminal (alleged, of course.) Debuts Tuesday, January 14.

Here Come the Irish, Season 1 – Series Finale (Peacock Original Documentary)
NBC’s longstanding partnership with Notre Dame football continues with this exclusive Peacock documentary on the team during the 2024 season which is now one game away from winning the national championship. (Notre Dame will play Ohio State on January 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET in the title game.) Don’t expect Woodward and Bernstein here, but the docuseries offers a behind-the-scenes peek at coach Marcus Freeman and QB1 Riley Leonard, among others. Season finale debuts Thursday, January 16.
