Max, the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, this week (October 27-November 2) plans to add 31 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three most interesting new titles, in my humble opinion:
Chris Brown: A History of Violence (ID)
No, A History of Violence here is not the 2005 Viggo Mortensen movie directed by David Cronenberg. This is real life and far scarier. The documentary chronicles the series of violent acts by rap star Chris Brown including domestic abuse against the singer, Rihanna, and a new allegation that he may have been involved in a rape during a ‘freak out’ party on Diddy’s yacht. Despite the clear and ample evidence of Brown’s misdeeds, his career has been celebrated by both the media and the music industry, and, again, that makes this far scarier than any movie. Debuts Sunday, October 27.
Goodfellas (1990)
Martin Scorsese’s brilliant 1990 mob drama starring Ray Liotta (RIP), Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro. Ten years earlier, Scorsese made Raging Bull and it seemed improbable then that he could top such a work of art. But he did. Goodfellas has become one of those movies that you can watch over and over and never be bored. Debuts Friday, November 1.
Jurassic Park (1993)
Jurassic Park, the 1993 movie directed by Steven Spielberg, is an absolute masterpiece that continues to awe and captivate audiences even decades after its release. With groundbreaking special effects, a thrilling plot, and memorable performances, this dinosaur-packed adventure remains an enduring classic of the sci-fi genre. Debuts Friday, November 1.
