Amazon’s Prime Video this week (August 18-24, 2024) plans to add six new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three most interesting new titles, in my humble opinion:
Thursday Night Football
Amazon returns this season with its exclusive Thursday Night Football streamcasts starting with a pre-season match up on Thursday, August 22 between Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals and the Indianapolis Colts. Coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. ET with kickoff scheduled around 8 p.m. ET. This will be the last preseason game for both teams before the 2024 regular season opener.
WNBA on Prime Video: Dallas Wings at New York Liberty
No, it’s not Caitin Clark and the Indiana Fever. But did you know that the New York Liberty, led by Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu, are 23-4 and have the best record in the WNBA? The stylish Liberty squad will host the Dallas Wings on Thursday (August 22) with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
Elizabeth Winstead stars as a young woman who wakes up after a car crash in a house where the owner (John Goodman) is keeping her a prisoner. Making matters even more confusing, the homeowner is convinced that they can’t leave the house because there are unknown monsters lurking outside. Is he telling the truth? The young woman doesn’t think so but she’s not totally sure. This is a great premise (and, loosely, a sequel to the 2008 film, Cloverfield) and Winstead and Goodman’s cat-and-mouse play is fun to watch. Debuts Saturday, August 24.
