Amazon’s Prime Video to Add 118 New Titles In August – Here’s the 3 Most Interesting

Amazon’s Prime Video next month (August 2024) plans to add 118 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three most interesting new titles, in my humble opinion:
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power S2 (2024)
Season two of Amazon’s original (and very expensive) Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will debut this month. Based on the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, Rings of Power tells the tale of the second age of Tolkien’s Middle Earth when elves and men must unite to stop evil forces, personified by the Dark Lord Sauron. The show, which reportedly has cost Amazon well over $1 billion in licensing and production costs, was supposed to match HBO’s Game of Thrones myth for myth. But the response to season one was mixed although there’s no denying its beauty and sophisticated scene designs. Season two debuts on August 29.
Thursday Night Football
Amazon returns this season with its exclusive Thursday Night Football streamcasts starting with a pre-season match up on August 22 between Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals and the Indianapolis Colts. Coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. ET with kickoff scheduled around 8 p.m. ET. This will be the last preseason game for both teams before the 2024 regular season opener.

In the not too distant future, Katie (Awkwafina) is a lottery winner who must avoid being killed before sundown to cash in her winning ticket. John Cena plays a ‘lottery protector agent’ she hires to keep her safe. Directed by veteran comedy hand Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat), the original Amazon comedy film has potential despite the strange plotline. Debuts on August 15 so you can judge for yourself.
