Max, the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, plans to add 10 new TV shows and movies this week (July 14-20, 2024.) Here are the two most interesting, in my humble opinion:

Love Lies Bleeding (2024)
Kristen Stewart stars as a gym manager who falls in love with a female bodybuilder (Katy O’Brian) but her passion soon triggers a web of deception, abuse and murder. The film from the prestigious studio, A24, generated a 94 percent approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes which says: “Lust and violence collide to powerfully pulpy effect in Love Lies Bleeding, a well-acted addition to writer-director Rose Glass’ growing body of exceptional work.” Sounds good to us. Debuts Friday, July 19.

Wild Wild Space (HBO Original)
The documentary examines the emergence (and dangers) of the privatization of space exploration through the competition between such companies as Astral, Rocket Labs and Planet Labs. While most people are aware of the space initiatives from billionaires Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, the industry is becoming dominated by a slew of smaller companies which look play a game of Monopoly in space. Debuts Wednesday, July 17.
