Amazon’s Prime Video plans to add three new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup this week (July 14-20, 2024.) Here is a preview of all three:
My Spy: The Eternal City (2024, Amazon Original Movie)
This sequel to the 2020 Amazon original comedy film, My Spy, has CIA agent JJ (Dave Bautista) accompanying young Sophie (Chloe Coleman) on her school trip to Italy where they become involved in a terrorist plot. If this spy comedy was made two decades ago, Arnold Schwarzenegger might have been in the starring role. And if Amazon had invested more money, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson would have starred today. But instead, we get Bautista and, judging from the Rotten Tomatoes reviews of My Spy, that might not have been the best choice. My Spy: The Eternal City debuts Thursday, July 18 so you can judge for yourself then.
UNINTERRUPTED’s Top Class Tennis (2024, Amazon Original)
If you didn’t get enough tennis from Wimbledon, Amazon will serve up this four-part docuseries on four nationally ranked junior tennis players as they make their way to the Orange Bowl, a competition that could make or break their careers as tennis pros. Amazon will debut all four episodes on Thursday, July 18.
Betty la Fea, La Historia Continúa (2024)
The Columbian TV series, which will make its U.S. debut on Friday, July 18, is translated as Ugly Betty: The Story Continues. Based on a popular telenovela two decades ago, Ana Maria Orozco stars as the put-upon Betty who is now a wife and mom. The modern Cinderella story has been transported to several countries over the years including the U.S. where America Ferrera played Betty in the ABC comedy, Ugly Betty.
Here’s a list of more titles coming to Amazon’s Prime Video this month:
July 23
Bob Marley: One Love (2024)
July 25
Troppo S2 (2024)
Cirque du Soleil: Without a Net (2024)
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (2023)
July 30
Lisa Frankenstein (2024)
Perfect Addiction (2023)
