DIRECTV Stream Adds 5 More Free Channels

DIRECTV’s streaming services have added five more ads-supported free channels to their lineups:  Women’s Sports Network, Racing America, Poker Go, El Rey Rebel and the Spanish-language Somos Novelas.

The five channels are now available to Entertainment plan and above subscribers to DIRECTV Stream and DIRECTV via Internet service as well as DIRECTV’s streaming app for satellite customers.

“We have always been a sports leader, and our commitment to culturally diverse content remains second to none,” Chris Lui, vice president of content strategy and compliance at DIRECTV, said in a press release. “We look forward to offering customers a wider array of choices in these and other popular content genres over the next several months.”

DIRECTV has bolstered its streaming lineups with a few dozen free channels over the last several months. The channels are called free because they are also available on such free services as Pluto TV and Tubi.

Here’s a brief description of the five channels just added to DIRECTV’s streaming services:

Women’s Sports Network (Channel 4125)
The channel from FAST Studios is the first 24/7 streaming network dedicated exclusively to women’s sports and features original programming, game action, documentaries and studio shows.

Racing America (Channel 4192)
The channel offers live short-track racing and NASCAR Cup Team content.

El Rey Rebel (Channel 4229)
From director/producer Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Spy Kids), El Rey Rebel offers programming for the grindhouse/action crowd with an emphasis on Kung Fu classics, martial arts, gritty crime, and extreme sports.

Poker Go (Channel Ch. 4140)
The channel features poker tournaments and TV shows, including the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Somas Novelas (Channel 4720)
From Fuse Media, Somas Novelas is a new Spanish-language channel featuring novelas from around the world, including Venezuela and Chile, as well as Spanish-dubbed series from India, Turkey, Korea, and other regions.
