Ovechkin’s Final Ride? How to Watch Tonight’s (Possibly) Last NHL Game of The Great 8

By Phillip Swann

Tonight’s Washington Capitals-Columbus Blue Jackets regular season final at 7 p.m. ET might be the last game for the greatest goal scorer in NHL history, Alex Ovechkin (929 goals), who is contemplating retirement. (The Caps have been eliminated from the playoffs.) Here’s how you can watch the game whether you’re in the markets of the two teams or out of market:

Out of Market: It’s On ESPN
How to Watch the Game On ESPN

– ESPN on cable or satellite;
– The ESPN Unlimited app;
– Live streaming services that carry ESPN: DIRECTV, Fubo, Hulu Live, YouTube TV, Sling TV. (Note that Sling TV offers a one-day viewing pass for ESPN, and other channels, for $4.99. And DIRECTV, YouTube TV and Fubo have free trials.)

How to Watch In the Washington, D.C. Market
Monumental Sports Network will carry the game tonight although it’s a national broadcast on ESPN. You can subscribe to Monumental Sports Network’s streaming plan in market for $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year. The TV providers that carry the channel: DIRECTV, Comcast’s Xfinity TV, Verizon, Spectrum TV, Cox and several small cable companies.

How to Watch In the Columbus Market
Get ESPN. FanDuel Sports Network, which normally carries the Blue Jackets games, will not have this game because it’s a national ESPN game. (The RSN is also in the process of going out of business along with other FanDuel Sports channels.) ESPN, however, has given Monumental Sports Network permission to air what could be Ovechkin’s last game.
