Ted: Did Peacock Renew Or Cancel the Series?

The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!

TV Answer Man, do you know if Peacock will renew the Ted show with the teddy bear? My family loves it and we are almost done with the latest season. – Carli, Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Carli, that’s a great question. The sitcom prequel to the 2012 Ted film starring Mark Wahlberg features Max Burkholder as young Mark who brings the foul-mouthed Teddy Bear to life with a simple wish. The TV rendition has won praise from most critics who say it honors the cinematic version with a few twists thrown in. Peacock last week debuted season two. (Season one is also available on Peacock; the streamer added the two Ted films on March 1.)

So now that Ted fans are wrapping up their season two viewing, will there be a season three. Let’s go to The Wrap for the answer:

Ted creator Seth MacFarlane tells the publication that the suits at NBCUniversal (which operates Peacock) have told him the series is too expensive. Consequently, he says, the odds are that there will not be a third season of Ted. In fact, he wrote season two with that in mind, ending the season with a fitting closing. (No spoilers here.)

“Is there a way to do it?” MacFarlane said, referring to a season three possibility. “There’s always a way to do anything. But at the moment, it might take some narrative acrobatics. There’s no plan that I’ve heard of at the moment to do Season 3.”

So, as for now, Ted won’t be talking anymore.

Carli, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
