The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!
TV Answer Man, can you explain what will happen with the teams that won’t be on FanDuel Sports anymore? How much money will we have to pay now and will it only be on streaming? – Clyde, St.Louis.
Clyde, six Major League Baseball teams yesterday announced that they will not be on FanDuel Sports Network for the 2026 season: The Reds, Cardinals, Rays, Royals, Marlins and Brewers. The reason: Main Street Sports Group, which owns the FanDuel Sports Network channels, may be going out of business due to financial difficulties.
How Much Will MLB Charge to Watch the 6 Teams?
The six teams said yesterday that their games will be streamed in-market without blackouts on MLB TV. The cost will be $99.99 for the entire season or $19.99 a month.
Will the 6 MLB Teams Only Be On Streaming?
But that doesn’t mean the six teams will only be available on streaming. MLB will seek carriage arrangements with cable/satellite/live streaming services to carry their games as well. This is what the league did for the six teams (Twins, Padres, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Guardians, Mariners) whose games it broadcast in 2025 and will stream in 2026. (The Nationals will also be part of MLB TV in market starting with the 2026 season.) There haven’t been any carriage deals yet but DIRECTV, Fubo and Comcast are likely candidates.
What About the Other 3 FanDuel Teams?
The Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers have yet to reveal their plans for 2026 but they will not be on FanDuel this year, either. Sports Business Journal reports that the Braves are likely to start their own regional channel while the Angels and Tigers could still go with MLB TV or another TV partner.
Will the 13 MLB TV In-Market Teams Be On ESPN?
While the league has an agreement with ESPN for streaming regional games on its app, it appears that the 13 teams will not be on for the 2026 season. This could take place starting in 2027, however.
What Will Happen to FanDuel’s NBA and NHL Teams?
They are waiting for the final word from Main Street Sports Group but it’s possible the regional sports company will finish broadcasting the 2025-26 season for them. If not, the teams will likely have their games streamed by the leagues and secure deals with cable/satellite.
