Nine MLB Teams Exiting FanDuel Sports Network; What Does It Mean For You?

The nine Major League Baseball teams whose games have been broadcast by the FanDuel Sports Network are leaving the RSN channel for the 2026 season, according to a new Sports Business Journal report. The decision increases the likelihood that FanDuel Sports Network will be forced to liquidate in the coming weeks.

The Puck’s John Ourand was first to report that six of the nine teams had decided to leave.

However, SBJ writes that eight of the nine teams have now told Main Street Sports Group, which owns the RSN (Regional Sports Network) channel, that they are likely to have their games broadcast by MLB TV because of the RSN’s ongoing financial difficulties, SBJ writes.

The eight teams are the Reds, Tigers, Royals, Marlins, Angels, Brewers, Rays and Cardinals. The addition of the eight teams would mean that MLB would broadcast the games of 15 teams in total. But SBJ reports that a few teams could still make deals with another TV partner.

SBJ writes that the ninth team, the Atlanta Braves, are expected to start its own network to broadcast team games.

Main Street Sports Group, which has struggled financially for a few years, even going through bankruptcy reorganization at one point, has sought a buyer for the company. But it appears that global sports distributor DAZN is no longer interested and there may not be a second option.

Despite the loss of the nine MLB teams, SBJ writes that FanDuel Sports Network plans to continue broadcasting the games of 20 NHL and NBA teams until their regular seasons end in April. The company would likely liquidate soon thereafter unless new financing emerged, SBJ reports.

What Does It Mean For You?
Despite the nine teams not being on FanDuel Sports Network, MLB TV will likely make similar carriage deals with live streaming, cable and satellite operators to air their games. This is what happened with six teams broadcast last year by MLB TV. So fans could order the games in market via MLB TV (for $19.99 a month or $99 for the season with no blackouts in market) or subscribe to a pay TV service that carries the team.

Update: The Cardinals, Reds, Brewers, Royals, Rays and Marlins have announced they will operate under MLB TV for 2026.
