DIRECTV has agreed to carry the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network, the new regional TV home of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

The agreement with Gray Media and WAFB will allow DIRECTV, DIRECTV streaming and U-verse subscribers in 14 markets to watch the Pelicans.

The companies said DIRECTV will launch the new channel sometime this fall, hopefully before the Pelicans’ first 2025/26 regular season game on October 22 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network, which is owned by Gray Media, launched in October 2024 after Diamond Sports, the previous regional TV carrier of the Pelicans’ games, terminated its contract as part of its bankruptcy reorganization. The channel is available on local stations, Fubo, Cox Cable and now soon on DIRECTV.

“DIRECTV’s addition of the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network is a major step forward in bringing Pelicans basketball to fans across our region,” Greg Bensel, Senior Vice President of Communications, Broadcasting, Community, and Government Relations for the Saints and Pelicans, said in a statement. “This partnership gives us the potential to reach millions of new viewers. As GCSEN continues to grow, we’re listening to our fans and working to ensure everyone has the opportunity to watch Pelicans broadcasts.”
