DIRECTV Adds Free Movie Channel to MyFree DIRECTV

DIRECTV has added The Lionsgate Collection, which offers movies and TV shows from the Lionsgate studio, to its lineup of free channels at MyFree DIRECTV.

The new channel includes such shows as Weeds, Nurse Jackie, The Conners, Nashville and The Royals and movies including La La Land (pictured above), American Psycho, Bombshell, The Expendables and the Saw horror franchise.

The Lionsgate Collection is available on DIRECTV’s channel 4200.

The channel addition comes from an agreement announced last June between DIRECTV and Lionsgate. As part of that deal, DIRECTV earlier added five Lionsgate-owned channels to MyFree DIRECTV:

MovieSphere (premium movies)
HerSphere (female-driven stories)
Ebony TV (Black film and culture in partnership)
Are We There Yet?
Anger Management.  

DIRECTV says it plans to eventually offer more than two dozen Lionsgate channels.

MyFree DIRECTV, which is available to both DIRECTV subscribers and non-DIRECTV consumers, now includes more than 110 live channels and on-demand programming. You can watch the free channels by creating a DIRECTV account at DIRECTV.com and then going to the DIRECTV Stream app or this web page.

DIRECTV is hoping that MyFree DIRECTV will generate additional advertising revenue as well as attract potential customers who might subscribe to the pay TV service after coming to its site/app.
