Will Fox Air Texas-Ohio State In 4K On Saturday?

TV Answer Man, do you know if Fox will have the Texas-Ohio State game in 4K? It’s a big one to start, right? – Sam, Landover.
Sam, you’re right. The Texas-Ohio State game on Saturday, August 30, at noon ET is a big one! Third ranked Ohio State is the defending national champion while Texas is top ranked heading into the game. Amazingly, Ohio State is a 1.5 point favorite despite Texas’s number one status. The odds favor Ohio State because the game will be held at the Ohio Stadium.
Fox will broadcast the game in HD on network affiliates. But will it also air an upscaled 4K feed of Texas-Ohio State?
Answer: Yes!
How Can You Watch Fox’s 4K Games?
Fox’s 4K games can be seen in the format on the Fox Sports app by logging in with your TV Everywhere user name and password from your pay TV provider. Fox says the new Fox One app will also carry the network’s 4K broadcasts. Pay TV subscribers who have Fox in their packages get free access to Fox One.
The pay TV services that normally Fox games in 4K on special 4K channels are DIRECTV, Dish, Sling TV, Comcast, Verizon, Optimum, YouTube TV, and FuboTV. (In FuboTV markets where the Fox affiliate is provided with your programming package.) Check your on-screen guide for more details.
What Are Fox’s Upscaled 4K Broadcasts?
Fox’s 4K live sports broadcasts are upscaled from 1080p HDR (High Dynamic Range). Upscaling is the process when one video format is converted to another. Fox takes the 1080p HDR signal and converts it to a 4K format. Upscaling 4K is not considered as good as native 4K, but the inclusion of HDR can offer heightened colors and vividness. ESPN also upscaled its 4K broadcasts from a 1080p HD signal.

TV Answer Man, the link for Fox normally describing what devices that have access to watch 4K through their apps is no longer working. I have a Samsung Smart TV (2022 Neo-QLED) and have the new Fox One app through the Tizen smart app on the TV and not separate streaming device. Has Fox updated their requirements for the 4K through their apps to include the Samsung TV Tizen app? It used to just be Android TV’s, Apple TV, and Roku devices.
Have not seen any indication of new devices being added to the list of compatibles. But maybe they are now in the process of updating.
Sure hope so. I don’t really understand why you cannot get it through the Samsung OS.
