DIRECTV announced today that streaming, satellite and U-verse subscribers will get access to the new ‘ESPN Unlimited’ streaming service at no extra cost when it launches this fall.
The TV provider said all DIRECTV streaming and MySports subscribers will get the new ESPN streamer at launch while satellite and U-verse customers will get it later this fall.
The new ESPN streaming service, which will be separate from its current ESPN+ offering, will include live feeds of all ESPN networks as well as on-demand programming. The service, which will cost $29.99 a month, is expected to launch in late August before the 2025 college football season.
Update: A DIRECTV spokesperson issued this statement to The TV Answer Man: “ESPN’s unlimited plan will be available to all DIRECTV (satellite and streaming Signature Package and streaming MySports) and U-verse customers with ESPN in their base package…Signature packages include: Entertainment, Choice, Ultimate and Premier.”
It’s unclear if other plan subscribers will get ESPN Unlimited for free.
Update #2: The Directv spokesperson said Friday: “All customers with ESPN in their base package will receive ESPN’s unlimited plan. ESPN’s unlimited will include all the ESPN+ content.”
“DIRECTV continues to make it simple for customers to access all their content in a seamless personalized experience without having to search across multiple apps. With unmatched choice and flexibility, our customers can control their entertainment and pay only for the programming they value,” DIRECTV chief marketing officer Vince Torres said in a press release.
DIRECTV also announced that customers with a Gemini device who subscribe to a Signature Package such as Entertainment or Choice will also get free access to Disney+ with ads and Hulu with ads.

Hi, Phil,
Will this ESPN Unlimited package include the NHL and NCAA games that are now available on ESPN+? I have the DIRECTV satellite premier package but I also pay monthly for ESPN+ to get those games. I was wondering if this free offering would eliminate the need for that extra subscription. Thanks!
