HBO Max to Add 113 New Shows & Movies In July 2025 – Here Are the 3 to Watch

HBO Max next month (July 2025) plans to add 113 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion.

Sinners (2025)
Release Date: July 4

Michael B. Jordan stars in dual roles as twins who return to their hometown in 1930s Mississippi to combat an evil force (vampires.) Directed by Ryan Coogler, Sinners (pictured above) has been the smash hit of 2025, generating nearly $300 million at the domestic box office. And the critics are still raving about Sinners, calling it an exciting and insightful thriller. Folks, I don’t have a subscription to HBO Max, but Amazon’s Prime Video offers a seven-day free trial and I’m signing up on the Fourth just to watch this film.

Opus (2025)
Release Date: July 11
Opus stars Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) as a journalist who’s invited along with five other guests to listen to a new album from a previously retired and enigmatic rock superstar (John Malkovich). However, once there, she discovers the musician is now part of a murderous cult. The movie has received mixed reviews but the great Malkovich as a cult leader musician is intriguing enough for me to stream in.

Release Date: July 2
You may not be old enough to remember Ms. Magazine but the Gloria Steinem-founded publication was a sensation (as well as a subject of scorn) in 1971 when it debuted, urging young women to ditch their bras (and possibly their husbands) and declare their independence. This HBO documentary will chronicle the events and people that sparked its publication and movement and why it ultimately faded and arguably became more parody than powerful polemic.
