Max, the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, this week (April 28-May 4, 2025) plans to add 84 new releases. Here are the highlights.

  • On Thursday, Max will add scores of new movies, classic and recent, including director Christopher Nolan‘s much-herald sci-fi film, Inception; Stanley Kubrick’s horror masterpiece, The Shining; and, speaking of horror, The Silence of the Lambs starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins.
  • On Monday, Max will debut three reality/true crime shows including season two of the chilling Evil Lives Here: The Killer Speaks, which includes interviews with the killers themselves.
  • On Saturday, Max will add Ready Player One, the 2018 sci-fi movie from director Steven Spielberg about a young man (Ty Sheridan) who uses a video game to enter a virtual reality. The film captured several awards for its innovative special effects and storyline.
