Netflix to Add 78 New Releases In April 2025 – Here Are the 4 Most Interesting

Netflix this month (April 2025) plans to add 78 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the four to watch, in my humble opinion.

Black Mirror, season seven – Netflix Original
Release Date: April 10
The Netflix original anthology sci-fi series inspired by The Twilight Zone returns with spooky tales containing more twists than a Hungarian gymnast. Like its inspired predecessor, every Black Mirror episode doesn’t work. But most do, and when one does, it leaves you staring in the distance. Season seven, which will offer six new episodes, will feature star turns from Paul Giamatti, Cristin Milioti, Emma Corrin and Chris O’Dowd, among others. The Giamatti episode has my attention. Here’s the description from Netflix – ”An innovative system that enables users to literally step into photographic memories of the past leads a lonely man to re-examine a heartbreaking period in his life.”

Pulse – Netflix Original Series
Release Date: April 3.
After all these years, Netflix has finally invaded the medical drama field with Pulse, which stars Willa Fitzgerald as the reluctant chief resident of a chaotic hospital who’s located in the eye of a hurricane. Yes, a real one, not just metaphorically speaking. The reviews have been mixed, but it’s worth checking out if only to see how Netflix handles a genre path well-traveled.

You, Season five – Netflix Original Series
Release Date: April 24.
Netflix may have been shy about hospital dramas until now but don’t ever say the streamer has not tapped the serial killer category. You, which this month enters its fifth season, stars Penn Badgley as the predatory professor and he’s actually quite good in the role despite the narrative’s predictability. In season five, Badgley’s Joe moves to New York, marries a wealthy socialite, and proceeds to take his knife to the Big Apple, one slash at a time.

The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox – Netflix Original
Release Date: April 8.
This is not your father’s Red Sox, or even your older brother’s. The team’s luster has faded considerably in recent years due to ill-conceived trades and inexcusable penny-pinching. Still, Netflix’s sports doc team is sterling and it should be interesting to see how the 2024 Sox fared behind the scenes while finishing 81-81. The early reviews say the series is quite candid and sometimes emotional; Sox outfielder Jarren Duran confesses he tried to commit suicide after disappointing 2021 and 2022 seasons.
