TV Answer Man, I am interested in getting the Max streaming to watch The White Lotus show. Do you know if they have any discounts? – Teresa, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Teresa, Max, the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, offers a mix of original HBO programming, such as The White Lotus, shows from Discovery networks, and movies. The streamer’s cheapest plan is the $9.99 a month ads-included package.

Unfortunately, Max does not offer a free trial at its web site (although Amazon’s Prime Video sometimes provides a seven-day free trial for Max). The service also currently does not offer a discount for most new customers. However, if you’re a college or university student, you can now get the $9.99 plan for half-price.

You have to verify that you are a college or university student at the Max site here. But if you are a student, or have a student in your family, this is a great way to watch the streamer’s shows without paying the full price.

Note that Max’s live sports lineup, known as the Bleacher Report, will not be available in the ads-included plan after March 30.

Teresa, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe.
