TV Answer Man, do you know if DIRECTV will have a free preview of Extra Innings when the season opens this week? – Tim, Evanston, Illinois.
Tim, MLB Extra Innings offers up to 90 out-of-market games each week during the regular season. The cost of the plan on DIRECTV is $149.
However, the satellite TV service will hold a free preview of the package from March 27 (MLB’s opening day) to April 3. DIRECTV has offered this free preview of the first week of the season for several years.
Note that the free preview will not be available on DIRECTV Stream. The streaming service does not carry MLB Extra Innings or MLB TV. But also note that MLB TV, the league’s streaming package of out-of-market games, offers a one-week free trial. So you can watch the first week of the season for free if you sign up for MLB TV. But be sure to cancel before the one-week trial is over or you will be billed for the entire season. The full season price is $149.
Tim, hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe.
