Amazon’s Prime Video to Remove 86 Movies In 8 Days – Here Are the 6 Best

Amazon’s Prime Video plans to remove 86 movies after March 31, 2025. Here are the six best, in my humble opinion.
Friday Night Lights (2004)
The TV show starring Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton gets all the love, but the original 2004 movie starring Billy Bob Thornton as a Texas high school football coach in mythical Dillon, Texas is just as good. (And guess who plays his wife? That’s right. Connie Britton.) Peter Berg, the showrunner for the TV show, directed the movie and co-wrote the screenplay.

Platoon (1986)
Director Oliver Stone’s 1986 Vietnam drama stars Charlie Sheen as a grunt in the brush who’s torn between two sergeants (Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe) who have violently different views of how to conduct the war. This is Stone’s masterpiece, perhaps even surpassing 1991’s JFK, in large part because it feels so authentic thanks to the director’s personal experience in the war. Sheen is particularly good and a rewatching of this film and 1987’s Wall Street will make you wonder why he didn’t become a top-tier actor instead of a late-night punchline.
Scarface (1983)
The brilliant Brian De Palma-directed drama stars Al Pacino as Cuban refugee Tony Montana who discovers crime does pay, and exceedingly well, in coke-fueled 1980s Miami. While Scarface may be — okay, is — too violent for some, the film perfectly chronicles the era’s thirst for excess and hedonism through the eyes of Montana. Michelle Pfeiffer is flawless as Montana’s ice-cold, white powder-sniffing moll and the splendid supporting cast also includes Steven Bauer, Robert Loggia, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and F. Murray Abraham. Great movie, and don’t forget to say hello to Tony’s little friend.

Bridesmaids (2011)
Since we picked three dark crime dramas to start, let’s mix in this 2011 comedy
starring Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) at the peak of her zany powers as a single woman in her 30s who turns an upcoming wedding into a series of comic misadventures. The flawless supporting cast includes Jon Hamm, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper, and for fans still nostalgic for 1970s indie films, the great Jill Clayburgh.
The Nutty Professor (1996)
Eddie Murphy’s 1996 homage to the original Jerry Lewis 1963 masterpiece with the former playing multiple roles including a meek scientist who discovers a formula that turns him into a testosterone-fueled ladies’ man. Eddie should have won an Oscar nom for this, but that’s another story for another day.
The Ghost Writer (2010)
The Ghost Writer, directed by Roman Polanski, is a gripping political thriller that masterfully weaves suspense, intrigue, and sharp wit. Ewan McGregor delivers a compelling performance as a talented writer hired to complete the memoirs of a former British Prime Minister, played brilliantly by Pierce Brosnan. As McGregor delves deeper into the politician’s past, he uncovers dark secrets that put his own life in jeopardy. Polanski’s direction is taut and suspenseful, creating a palpable sense of tension throughout the film.
