Peacock Now Streaming NBC Sports RSNs For Extra Fee

NBC today began streaming the regional sports broadcasts of its NBC Sports channels on Peacock. The RSNs are available in market as an add-on plan to the Peacock Premium and Peacock Premium Plus subscriptions which costs $7.99 a month and $13.99 a month respectively.

What Are the NBC Sports Channels?

The channels, which include NBC Sports Philadelphia, NBC Sports Boston, NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California, broadcast the games of such teams as the Boston Celtics, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Flyers, and Golden State Warriors.

How Much Do the NBC RSNs Cost On Peacock?

The NBC Sports Philadelphia channel is now available for $24.95 a month on Peacock. NBC Sports California is $17.95 a month. NBC Sports Boston is $14.95 a month. NBC Sports Bay Area is $17.95 a month.

The NBC Sports channels will remain on pay TV services.

Why Is NBC Offering the RSNs On Peacock?

NBC, which is owned by Comcast, has discussed offering its NBC RSNs on Peacock since 2022. Mark Lazarus, NBCUniversal’s chairman of television and streaming, told a Sports Business Journal conference in November 2022 that his company was negotiating streaming rights with the leagues and teams and planned to provide the regional sports channels on Peacock later in 2022, according to Bloomberg.

However, the plan apparently stalled until now.

NBC is hoping that the addition of the RSNs on Peacock will give sports fans another reason to subscribe to the streaming service. As a unit of NBCUniversal, Peacock now live streams numerous NBC sporting events including Sunday Night Football, Notre Dame football, golf, the Olympics and Triple Crown horse racing, among others.
