DIRECTV announced this evening that it has signed a multi-year agreement to carry the new Texas Rangers Sports Network in the team’s five-state market of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and eastern New Mexico. The games, which will start with the Rangers’ 2025 regular season opener on March 27, will be available on U-verse, and DIRECTV satellite and via streaming, including DIRECTV Stream.

The Rangers yesterday announced the formation of the new regional sports network. Bally Sports, now known as FanDuel Sports Network, carried their games in market last year but their contract expired after the 2024 season.

DIRECTV, which is the first TV provider to announce it will carry the new Rangers RSN, says the team’s pre-game, post-game, and live game telecasts will be available on its TV services. The channel will be 677 on satellite and streaming and 1752 (HD) and 752 (SD) on U-verse.

“We continue to believe in the unique power of local teams like the Texas Rangers to unite the communities they call home, and this relationship will continue to distinguish DIRECTV as an industry leader for baseball fans,” Rob Thun, Chief Content Officer of DIRECTV, said in a statement. “We want to create opportunities for local fans and businesses to support their hometown teams while also offering consumers more choice, flexibility, and the ability to obtain the programming they feel best meets their own interests at a good value.”

The Rangers said in a statement yesterday that more cable, streaming and satellite agreements will be announced in the coming days. (Update: The Rangers say Spectrum TV has also agreed to carry the channel.) The team announced earlier this month that it would offer a standalone streaming plan for its games, not requiring a subscription to a pay TV operator. The streaming plan, which will be available on Victory Plus, will cost $100 for select spring training games and the entire regular season in 2025.
