Amazon’s Prime Video to Add 126 New Titles This Week – Here Are the 4 Most Interesting

Amazon’s Prime Video this week (December 1-7, 2024) plans to add 126 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the four most interesting, in my humble opinion:
The Sticky – Amazon Original
Character actor extraordinaire Margo Martindale (Justified, The Americans) finally gets the above-the-title spotlight as a maple syrup farmer who cooks up a heist of the Quebec maple syrup surplus center when Canadian bureaucrats try to shut her farm down. Based on a real-life story, the Amazon original series sounds like a rare opportunity to watch a gifted actor like Martindale really cook (sorry for the double puns) and, if that’s not enough, it will also feature Jamie Lee Curtis in a supporting role. Debuts Friday, December 6.
Thursday Night Football: Green Bay at Detroit
Amazon’s TNF lineup has not always been sterling but look out this Thursday. The 9-3 Green Bay Packers will play the 11-1 Detroit Lions in an NFC North grudge match. The Lions are a 3.5 point favorite but the Pack needs a win to have a shot of edging out the Lions for the division crown. It should be an epic battle of two of the league’s best teams. Debuts Thursday, December 5. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with the kickoff around 8:15 p.m. ET.
The Batman (2022)
Just when you thought that the Batman saga had been exhausted, director Matt Reeves stepped up with this absorbing 2022 gem starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader fighting crime in Gotham City. The film, which matches director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy) in moodiness and atmospherics, breaks some new ground with its portrayal of Batman as trauma survivor and Paul Dano as a deeply psychotic Riddler. (And if you loved The Penguin series on HBO, Colin Farrell’s character has a part here, too.) The Batman is too dark for the kiddies but it’s a faithful continuation of the graphic comic book series. Debuts Sunday, December 1.
You might also want to check out Pop Culture Jeopardy with Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost firing contemporary questions (sorry, make that answers) at contestants. Debuts Wednesday, December 4.
