TV Answer Man, I didn’t see anything from you on ESPN’s 4K game for this week? Will there be a 4K game from ESPN this week? — Roger, Tulsa.
Roger, sorry for the delay, but I have good news for you.
ESPN this Saturday (November 16) will continue its upscaled 4K broadcasts with the Clemson at Pittsburgh game at noon ET. ESPN will simulcast the game in high-def.
Clemson, 7-2, is the nation’s 20th ranked team while Pittsburgh, also 7-2, is unranked. The Tigers are a 9.5 point favorite and the ESPN Matchup Predictor agrees, giving Clemson a 69.2 percent chance of winning.
Which TV Providers Will Show Clemson-Pittsburgh In 4K?
YouTube TV, Dish, Sling TV, DIRECTV, DIRECTV Stream, Comcast, Optimum and Verizon are expected to offer the game on their ESPN 4K channels. ESPN does not offer 4K programming on its ESPN TV Everywhere app or ESPN+.
What Is Upscaled 4K?
The ESPN 4K broadcast will be ‘upscaled’ from 1080p HD. The upscaled 4K means that the game will be produced in 1080p HD on site and upgraded to 4K for the home transmission. ESPN switched to upscaled 4K more than a year ago after previously doing some games in native 4K.
Roger, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
