Just hours after raising prices, Hulu Live suffered a major technical meltdown last night during the broadcast of two Major League Baseball playoff games, leaving tens of thousands frustrated they couldn’t watch the games.
Downdetector.com, which tracks online outages, reports that more than 80,000 people were complaining about Hulu Live on social media during the height of the snafus.
The live streamer, which yesterday lifted its monthly rate from $77 a month to $83 a month, was the subject of a large number of angry posts at social media sites such as X after the outages began in the early evening during the exciting finish of the AL League Championship game between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians. (The outages apparently affected all channels, including TBS which showed the Yankees and Guardians and Fox which aired the Mets and Dodgers.)
Funny thing about today. I was looking into @YouTubeTV just because I was curious. Didn’t change anything but still considering.
Now @hulu goes down. Can’t watch the @Mets. Missed the @CleGuardians walk off.
Really, really poor timing.
Get it together @Disney.

“Hulu live tv in the 10th inning of the yankees game. it’s like you’re begging me to not use your product. suffer @hulu_support,” wrote @azuremurkrow.
@hulu is TERRIBLE. @Yankees go into extra innings and #hulu goes down hard on my TV and mobile,” added Bob Picciano.
“Glad I watched the entire Yankees / Guardians just to have Hulu stop working right when extra innings start + I miss the walkoff home run. HULU I WILL END YOU. Cancelling right now before a new billing cycle, moving to YouTube. I HATE YOU,” wrote @sfain7.

Hulu’s X customer support team acknowledged the issues in an online post.
“Our team is working to resolve this behavior ASAP. We really appreciate your patience while we work on a fix!” Hulu told angry customers.
At around midnight, the streamer wrote on X that the problems seemed to be resolved.
“We are seeing service improving as we actively work to resolve a technical issue impacting live playback and log-in errors on Hulu. We apologize for the inconvenience,” Hulu stated.
