Will U-verse’s Prices Increase Next Month, Too?

TV Answer Man, I saw your articles on DIRECTV increasing its prices next month. How about for the U-verse subscribers. Do they get a price hike, too? — Dave, Anaheim, California.

Dave, DIRECTV announced yesterday that prices for both satellite service and DIRECTV Stream are going up in October. You can see the satellite rate info here and the DIRECTV Stream price info here. DIRECTV Via Streaming won’t see an increase because subscribers are locked in a two-year price guarantee. But what about U-verse, the other TV service in the DIRECTV family? Will U-verse’s prices go up next month?

Answer: Yes.

On or after October 6, the following price increases will go into effect for U-verse video subscribers:

$4 a month increase
U-family
U-family All IN

$5 a month increase
UBasic

$6 a month increase
U100

$7 a month increase
U200
U200 All In
U200 Latino
U200 Latino All In

$8 a month increase
U300
U300 All In
U300 Latino
U300 Latino All In

$10 a month increase
U400
U450
U450 All In
U450 Latino
U450 Latino All In

At its web site, DIRECTV provides a similar reason for the increase that it gave for DIRECTV Stream and DIRECTV Satellite:

“TV networks are continuing to increase the fees they charge for U-verse TV for the right to distribute the content they produce, including movies, shows, and sporting events. We remain steadfast in our commitment to bringing you the best programming at a fair and reasonable price.”

U-verse, along with DIRECTV Satellite and DIRECTV Stream, are currently without the Disney channels, including ESPN, due to a carriage dispute between the companies.

Dave, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
