TV Answer Man, I got a notice from YouTube TV that they are raising the price of the WNBA League Pass. Is this because of Caitlin Clark? Why is the price higher? Why is YouTube TV doing this? — Heidi, Madison, Wisconsin.

Heidi, the WNBA is generating lots of excitement now with college superstars Caitlin Clark (Indiana Fever) and Angel Reese (Chicago Sky) coming into the league. Clark and Reese were responsible for dramatically increasing the TV ratings for women’s college basketball during the 2023-24 season and WNBA officials are hopeful that the duo will do the same for them.

So, yes, this is why the WNBA League Pass has just increased its season rate from $24.99 to $34.99 and the monthly rate from $7.99 to $12.99. The package of out-of-market games will likely be a popular choice for fans of the two players and women’s basketball. (Note: Some pay TV services may offer last year’s price to existing subscribers.)

However, despite one report to the contrary, the League Pass increase is not just for YouTube TV subscribers. The League Pass has raised its prices for anyone who subscribes to the plan, regardless of whether you have YouTube TV or not.

You can learn more about subscribing to the WNBA League Pass here. The regular season begins on Tuesday, May 14 and will run until October.

Heidi, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
